Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary, Hasan Mahmud, asserted on Friday that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) aimed to sow chaos in the nation but failed in their attempts to disrupt the last national election.

Speaking at a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad to commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud warned BNP against further disruptive actions, stating that the people would respond appropriately if they attempted to instigate violence again.

Highlighting the history of political discord, Hasan Mahmud accused BNP of repeatedly attempting to undermine democracy in Bangladesh. He noted that BNP had openly declared their intention to disrupt the previous election but ultimately failed, leading to their downfall.

Addressing the ongoing political landscape, Hasan Mahmud emphasized the challenges faced by the country's development efforts due to persistent disruptive forces. He condemned those who sought to derail progress and cited instances where certain individuals prioritized personal accolades over national interests.

In particular, Hasan Mahmud criticized Dr. Yunus, suggesting that he neglected the country's issues and prioritized receiving awards abroad over addressing domestic crises such as floods and disasters.

The discussion also featured State Minister Nahid Khan, who highlighted the remarkable life and sacrifices of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Prayers were offered for the peace of Bangabandhu's soul, as well as for the welfare of the nation and its people, concluding the event.
