Dhaka, Oct 27 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami expressed concern over the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) demand to prevent officials of service-oriented institutions, including Islami Bank Bangladesh, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Islami Bank Hospital, and Ibn Sina Hospital, from participating in election duties.

In a statement on Sunday, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar described BNP’s demand as “unreasonable and baseless.” He said, “The call to exclude officials of these non-political and service-oriented institutions from election responsibilities is politically motivated, unjustified, and completely unacceptable.”

Golam Parwar emphasized that these institutions have long maintained a reputation for professionalism and efficiency, serving people from all walks of life without discrimination. “The officials and staff perform their duties with honesty and dedication, and their impartiality is beyond question,” he added.

The statement warned that if political parties continue to make unfounded claims against non-political service institutions, it could create uncertainty and disorder during elections. “If the Election Commission entertains such politically motivated and misleading demands, it may encourage even more baseless claims in the future,” the statement noted.

Golam Parwar also called for successful protest rallies and processions across all districts on Monday in a five-phase campaign leading up to the November general vote and proportional representation elections.
