Rajshahi, Oct 28 (V7N)- The National Citizens Party (NCP) is unlikely to form an alliance with any political party that has a “history of responsibility,” said Convener Nahid Islam while speaking to reporters at Rajshahi Parjatan Motel on Tuesday (October 28).
Nahid Islam said that the NCP will sign the July Charter if the recommendations of the Consensus Commission on constitutional reform, including the cancellation of the Note of Distinction, are incorporated in the July Charter Implementation Order.
He added that the commission’s agreed issues will go to a referendum, allowing the people to give their verdict on constitutional reforms.
On the party symbol issue, Nahid Islam said the NCP is not being given the Shapla symbol to disrupt its political activities, calling it the arbitrariness of the commission. He warned that if necessary, the matter could be pursued politically or through street demonstrations.
Regarding the elections, he stated that there will be no caretaker government under the previous system, and the next polls will be held under Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ leadership.
He also urged the interim government to announce a roadmap for justice before the election.
