Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain, personal physician to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and a member of the party’s Standing Committee, has confirmed that her health condition remains stable. Speaking to reporters outside Evercare Hospital in the capital on Saturday night around 9:30 p.m., he stated that she has been able to continue her prescribed treatment over the past three days, which he described as a positive sign.
Dr. Zahid emphasized that Khaleda Zia’s condition has remained consistent over the last three days, and she is receiving care from her doctors. “Treatment is the responsibility of the doctors, and recovery is in Allah’s hands. Everyone is requested to pray for her health,” he added.
Addressing speculation about potential treatment abroad, Dr. Zahid said her ongoing care involves consultation with doctors from multiple countries, including the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, China, Singapore, and the United States. He confirmed that she is receiving all forms of international medical services. However, given her current physical condition, travel abroad is not possible. Officials will announce any updates regarding international treatment once she improves and her medical board gives consent.
Dr. Zahid also appealed to the public not to visit the hospital in person. “Besides Begum Khaleda Zia, more than 300 patients are admitted here. Doctors, nurses, and patients need to move freely. Crowding the hospital would disrupt medical services for others. Please pray for her from your own locations,” he said.
Khaleda Zia has been under intensive care at Evercare Hospital since November 27. Her son, Tarique Rahman, is closely involved in overseeing her treatment, while his wife, Zobaida Rahman, coordinates communication with the medical board and foreign doctors. Other family members are also present at the hospital.
This ongoing supervision ensures she receives continuous medical attention, with international expertise available if her condition permits in the future.
