Singapore, December 17 (V7N) — Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, requires an urgent additional surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his brain, according to hospital sources at Singapore General Hospital.

Doctors have said that if the bullet cannot be removed, there is a risk of further deterioration in his condition. However, Hadi’s physical state is not yet stable enough to undergo the surgery. The information was confirmed after discussions with hospital authorities and those involved in his medical care.

Sources said that although there have been discussions in multiple media outlets about transferring Hadi to the United Kingdom or the United States for advanced treatment, such a move is considered risky at this stage. Medical experts believe that his complete and appropriate treatment is currently possible only at Singapore General Hospital.

Hospital sources also said that Hadi’s vital organs, apart from his brain, are functioning normally. Further medical decisions will be taken following additional tests and consultations with his family, depending on how his body responds.

Hadi was shot by unidentified assailants in the Bijoynagar area of Dhaka on Friday afternoon. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment. After several days of care there, he was airlifted to Singapore on Monday, December 15.

The interim government is bearing the full cost of his treatment. Hadi’s two elder brothers, Omar Farooq and Abu Bakr Siddique, are accompanying him to oversee his medical care.
