A Dhaka court scheduled the hearing of bail petitions in multiple instances brought against BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the opposition party, for this Wednesday, January 10.

Joynul Abedin, Fakhrul's attorney, set the deadline for filing a petition requesting Fakhrul's bail in nine different instances before Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohagh Uddin.

Previous records from the Paltan and Ramna police stations showed that Fakhrul was detained in nine different cases.

The plea to see Fakhrul detained in the instances was granted by the court. At 11:40 a.m., the BNP leader appeared before the court.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim of Dhaka, on December 31, 2023, scheduled a hearing for January 9 to consider Fakhrul's bail petitions in nine different instances that were submitted to the police stations in Paltan and Ramna.

A minimum of eleven cases were brought against Fakhrul about the BNP's October 28 grand rally.

Out of them, three were reported to the Ramna Police Station and eight to the Paltan Police Station.

Regarding the vandalism and attack on the Chief Justice's mansion during the BNP demonstration on October 28, police filed a case with Ramna Police Station on October 29.

In addition to Mirza Fakhrul, the case included allegations against 59 BNP leaders and workers, one of them was Mirza Abbas, a member of the standing committee.

Fakhrul has been detained in connection with the case since his arrest on October 29.
