Kishoreganj, Dec 27 (V7N)- The donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj were opened on Saturday morning, revealing a massive collection of cash along with foreign currency and gold jewelry.

A total of 13 permanent donation boxes and three temporary trunks were opened. According to mosque authorities, 35 sacks filled with money were recovered from the boxes. The process of counting the money is currently underway.

To ensure accuracy and transparency, a large team of around 500 people has been engaged in the counting process. The team includes teachers and students from the mosque complex, madrasa and orphanage, as well as officers and employees of Kishoreganj Rupali Bank.

The donation boxes of Pagla Mosque were opened after a gap of about four months.

Earlier, on August 30, a record amount of Tk 12 crore 93 lakh 37 thousand 220 was recovered when the same 13 donation boxes were opened. At that time too, foreign currency and gold ornaments were found. The counting process then took approximately eleven and a half hours, involving a team of nearly 500 people.
