Dhaka, Dec 27 (V7N)- Rashed Khan, former general secretary of the People's Rights Council, has resigned from the organization and joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He expressed his desire to work for the country under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
On Saturday afternoon, Rashed Khan visited the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, where he presented flowers to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. He said he cherishes the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
At the same time, Mirza Fakhrul called on local BNP leaders and activists to support Rashed Khan in the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, stating that he will contest the upcoming election under the party symbol of the sheaf of rice.
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said that Rashed Khan will represent the country in the National Parliament with public support. He also highlighted Rashed Khan’s contributions, as well as those of the People's Rights Council, to the recent anti-fascist movement.
