Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — The National Citizens Party (NCP) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) have officially joined the electoral alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami, bringing the total number of parties in the coalition to ten, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman announced at a press conference on Sunday.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said the alliance is committed to building a “corruption-free, exploitation-free, and humane Bangladesh.” He noted that discussions on seat-sharing among the coalition’s 300 target constituencies are nearly complete, with only a few agreements pending.
He described the coalition as stronger than a conventional alliance, emphasizing that it is focused not only on elections but also on political and national development. “A single party will not decide seat distribution; it will be done fairly among all members,” he said.
The Jamaat Ameer also highlighted the alliance’s historical perspective, noting that the coalition’s political struggle dates back to 2008, following events such as the Peelkhana massacre, and stressed the responsibility of the parties to fulfill the expectations of the nation’s youth.
He added that with approximately one and a half months remaining until the elections, the alliance aims to support the government and the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections.
According to Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the remaining details of the alliance, including final seat allocations, will be announced soon.
