Dhaka, Jan 10 (V7N) — BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman received a courtesy call from Ivers Ijabs, Member of the European Parliament and Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, at his political office in Gulshan, the capital, on Saturday.

The four-member delegation, led by Ijabs, arrived at the BNP office at 2:15 pm and held a meeting with the chairman that lasted about an hour. The EU team departed a little before 4:00 pm.

The meeting was attended by BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir, and BNP Chairman’s advisor Ismail Zabiullah.

No further details were provided regarding the discussion, but such visits are part of the European Union’s ongoing efforts to observe and assess the electoral process in Bangladesh ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.
