Thakurgaon, Feb 05 (V7N) — Amid growing concerns over vote rigging and election fraud triggered by heated exchanges among political parties and reports of illegal ballot papers and fake seals, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said there is no possibility of fraud in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.

Campaigning in his constituency Thakurgaon, Mirza Fakhrul said that all political parties are participating in the election and the government is taking the process seriously, which, he believes, has reduced the risk of irregularities.

Seeking votes for himself ahead of the February 12 polls, he described votes as a “sacred trust.”

“I have never betrayed anyone’s trust. I have practiced politics honestly and will continue to do so in the future. I have not accumulated wealth through politics; rather, I am doing politics by spending my own wealth,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul also expressed his commitment to communal harmony, stating that if the BNP forms the government, it will work to build unity among Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians across the country.

Criticizing Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP Secretary General remarked that political parties should be aware of their own position before criticizing opponents, emphasizing the need for responsibility and restraint in political discourse.

As campaigning enters its final days, concerns over election integrity continue to be debated, even as major parties express confidence in a credible and participatory electoral process.
