Feb 07 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday said the politics of the future would be centered on rebuilding the state, stressing unity among people of all religions and communities.

Addressing an election rally at Nilphamari Town Ground, Rahman said the BNP envisions a Bangladesh where Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians move forward together, with citizens judged by merit and qualifications rather than religion or caste.

He said the BNP has spent years fighting to establish people’s rights, particularly the right to vote, and now the priority is to gradually restore those rights while rebuilding the country. Emphasizing youth employment and education, he said the party aims to create jobs for thousands of young people and ensure education for millions of children.

Recalling past political struggles, Rahman said many leaders, activists and ordinary citizens sacrificed their lives to reclaim voting rights that had been taken away. He urged voters to view the upcoming election not only as a chance to cast ballots, but also as an opportunity to take part in nation-building.

Highlighting regional development, the BNP chairman said employment is a key demand of Nilphamari residents. He announced plans to expand the Uttara Export Processing Zone and establish new factories in the area to create jobs.

Speaking on women’s empowerment, Rahman said that if the ‘Paddy Sheaf’ symbol wins the February 12 election, BNP will work to ensure economic independence for mothers, sisters and homemakers across the country.

He also outlined proposals for the agricultural sector, saying farmers would be provided with a Krishak Card to facilitate access to seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs. “If farmers prosper, Bangladesh will prosper,” he said.

On the long-standing Teesta issue, Rahman pledged that implementing the Teesta Master Plan would be a top priority of a BNP-led government to transform the region into fertile farmland once again.

Additionally, he shared plans to develop Nilphamari Government Medical College, upgrade Syedpur Airport to international standards, and modernize the Syedpur Railway Workshop.

The rally was presided over by Nilphamari District BNP Convener Mir Selim Faruq and moderated by Member Secretary AHM Saifullah Rubel. Senior BNP leaders, local candidates, and party officials also addressed the gathering.

Tarique Rahman arrived at the venue by helicopter at 12:50 pm and left for Birampur in Dinajpur district at 2:40 pm after the rally.
