Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the Election Commission has fulfilled its promise to deliver a transparent and credible election to the nation.

He made the remarks during his welcome speech at the Election Commission’s results announcement ceremony on Thursday night (February 13).

“We have been able to fulfill the promise we made to the nation. We want to show everyone that there is no hidden agenda among us. We have tried to give a completely transparent election,” the CEC said.

He described the election as one that the country had long been waiting for. “A beautiful election that was expected by everyone for a long time has been held. We have been able to give a gift to the nation. We are grateful to the Almighty. We believe that our efforts and hardships have been worthwhile,” he added.

The CEC said that since morning, various media outlets had described the polls as one of the best in the country’s history. “If judged by any standard in the history of elections in this country, this can be considered a very good election. We promised to deliver a festive, neutral, and credible election, and we believe we have been able to do so. Everyone is recognizing this,” he said.

Acknowledging challenges, Nasir Uddin noted that no election is perfect. “There will be some errors and limitations. This is a country of 180 million people, with 127 million voters. Including the referendum, we had to print and distribute 254 million ballots. Without your cooperation, we would not have been able to present this beautiful election,” he said, expressing gratitude to citizens, political leaders, and parties.

He concluded by saying, “I will not claim that it is a perfect election. Perfect elections do not happen anywhere. Even in developed democracies, various problems arise. But by any standard, Insha Allah, it is a very good and acceptable election.”
