Dhaka, Feb 14 (V7N) — Tarique Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, has outlined the BNP government’s priorities regarding foreign policy, economic development, and inclusive governance during a post-election press briefing on Saturday (February 14).
Responding to questions from journalists, Tarique Rahman emphasized that the interests of Bangladesh and its citizens will come first in relations with neighboring countries, including India, Pakistan, and China. He said foreign policy will be guided by national priorities and the well-being of the people.
Regarding the China-led Silk Road initiative, Tarique Rahman said the government will evaluate its economic impact before making any decisions.
On the election process, Tarique Rahman clarified that BNP’s role in creating a “fair and beautiful environment” for the polls was about convincing the people, not election manipulation. He acknowledged that the elections were challenging but emphasized that their approach was rooted in democratic engagement.
Addressing youth engagement, he said that the BNP government will listen to young people and work with all segments of society, including the elderly, women, and persons with disabilities, to address their concerns and aspirations.
Tarique Rahman also outlined the main challenges for the upcoming government, citing economic stability, law and order, and good governance as top priorities. He reaffirmed that the party’s vision of a democratic economy, as outlined in its manifesto, will guide economic development policies.
