Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, accused the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of pushing Bangladesh into cultural, political, and economic subordination to a neighbouring country.
Speaking at an event organized by Zia Projanmo Dal (ZPD) at the BNP's Nayapalton central office, Rizvi distributed Eid clothes to the needy on behalf of BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Rizvi criticized the government's actions, claiming they aim to suppress Bangladesh's indigenous culture and values. He expressed concern over restrictions on traditional practices, such as hosting Iftar parties for relatives and the needy, alleging interference by the authorities.
According to Rizvi, the government's actions, including hindering organizations from hosting Iftar parties on university campuses, reflect a disregard for the cultural values of the majority of the population. He accused the prime minister of acting at the behest of external influences, suggesting that her decisions are driven by foreign interests.
