Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud described the BNP as being more dangerous than Somali pirates, claiming that while the former did not torture or burn people to death, the latter does.
 
According to Hasan, who is also the Joint General Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League (AL), "BNP leaders like Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury sometimes become more dangerous than the pirates of Somalia."
 
In response to queries from media over BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury's statement that "the pirates of Bangladesh are more angry than the pirates of Somalia," he made these statements.
 
The minister had earlier attended the "Chatgaiya Eid Ananda Utsab" opening ceremony at the city's Laldighi maidan in the afternoon as the principal guest.
 
Regarding BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's claim that the nation's citizens are suffering greatly and that the general populace was unable to enjoy Eid properly, Hasan added that Mirza Fakhrul is not at peace with himself, which is why he is making such claims.
 
He remarked that the nation's citizens had a very happy and festive Eid. 
 
"People are still celebrating Eid. This year's trip for Eid was incredibly straightforward and comfortable. There weren't as many accidents this time around. "There is a lot of excitement among people to celebrate Eid," Hasan stated.
 
In response to another query from a journalist, the minister stated that the attempt to free the captured ship and her crew had made considerable headway.
 
"Good news will soon reach you, the people. I can guarantee that the sailors will be let free shortly. Hopefully, we'll be able to release the ship. He stated, "Notable advancements have already been accomplished.
 
Leaders of the Chatgaiya Eid Anand Utsab organising committee, Md. Shahabuddin, general secretary journalist Chowdhury Farid, councillor Rumki Sen Gupta, and president Jaharlal Hazari were in attendance.
