Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, strongly criticized the false and politically motivated statements made by BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on Thursday.

Quader denounced the continuous spread of lies by BNP leaders and their lack of regard for democracy and the rule of law. He accused BNP of supporting arson terrorists while falsely claiming suppression by the government when law enforcement takes action against these terrorists.

Highlighting BNP's history of violence, Quader recalled the party's involvement in terrorist activities leading up to the 12th national polls, which included numerous arson and petrol bomb attacks resulting in the deaths of innocent people.

Quader emphasized that the government isn't arbitrarily sending individuals to jail; rather, accused BNP leaders and activists are facing lawful proceedings in court.

Regarding upazila polls, Quader stressed Awami League's commitment to upholding democracy and ensuring fair elections. He noted that while BNP has taken a stance against the polls, Awami League remains determined to conduct them transparently, without interference from ministers, lawmakers, or party leaders.

Quader urged the public to remain vigilant against BNP's attempts to undermine democracy, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values and rejecting efforts to disrupt the electoral process.
