Obaidul Quader, the General Secretary of the Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, asserted today that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is acting as a servant to foreign interests in its pursuit of power.
Speaking to reporters after laying wreaths at the grave of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq to commemorate his 62nd death anniversary, Quader responded to comments from BNP leaders accusing the Awami League of being subservient to foreign powers to retain power. Quader retorted that such remarks better describe the BNP, which he claimed acts as a puppet of foreign interests to seize power.
Quader criticized the BNP for not relying on popular support as the foundation for assuming power, suggesting that the party is now conspiring to gain power by serving foreign interests.
During the ceremony, Quader paid tribute to Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League. He highlighted Fazlul Huq's significant contributions to the welfare of common people, particularly farmers and workers, throughout his life.
Quader also emphasized the legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, Mawlana Bhashani, and Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq in envisioning a non-communal Bangladesh. He asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is advancing towards the realization of this vision.
Additionally, various units and associate bodies of the Awami League paid their respects to Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq during the commemoration event.
