"Democracy that Ziaur Rahman had restored has been harmed once more by the Awami League regime:" Nazrul Islam Khan

Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB)'s declaration on the 12th Parliamentary election, according to BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan on Friday, is a "reflection of public opinion."

Speaking to reporters at the tomb of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, he added that their party and the nation's citizens will bring democracy back by overthrowing the current government through a street movement based on new initiatives.

The BNP leader said, "Who didn't say that this election was not fair... everyone said that the election was not fair," when his attention was called to the ministers' remarks disputing TIB's declaration regarding the national election. Thus, what the TIB stated is a reflection of the consensus.

BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul stated that the party's positions on the election are also reflective of public opinion. Thus, since the BNP approved of the election, TIB refrained from saying this. The reality was stated in it.

On the 88th anniversary of its founder Ziaur Rahman's birth, leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies, under the direction of the party standing committee members, honored him by laying wreaths at his tomb.

The 12th parliamentary election was characterized by TIB earlier on Wednesday as being rigged to appear competitive but ultimately being biased.

TIB also revealed the main results of their analysis of the polls conducted on January 7 during a press conference, calling the election a "ominous sign" for the nation's democracy and the conduct of elections in the future.

Nazrul acknowledged the feedback from both domestic and international organizations criticizing the results of the January 7 election. To be fair, we will accept those who speak for the Bangladeshi people. It matters what we say and what other people say."

He claimed that the people of the nation detested the authoritarianism of the current Awami League government, which had wrongfully detained BNP leaders and activists, such as Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Begum Khaleda Zia. We denounce it. We also thank everyone who speaks out against vote-stealing, oppression, and injustice."

The BNP petitioner claimed that the Awami League administration had once again damaged the democracy that Ziaur Rahman had restored. We'll update you on the several initiatives of the continuing campaign to bring that democracy back.

According to Nazrul, while Khaleda Zia restored democracy by toppling Ershad's military dictatorship, Ziaur Rahman brought democracy back by overthrowing Baksal's tyrannical leadership.

We're currently battling, under Tarique Rahman's leadership, to bring democracy back. We reaffirm our commitment to bringing democracy back to this nation as soon as possible with the support of its democracy-loving citizens on the anniversary of Ziaur Rahman's birth," he said.

The BNP and its associated groups will celebrate its founder Ziaur Rahman's 88th birthday on Friday, January 19, with many different events.

Ziaur Rahman, who was born in Bagbari, Bogura, on January 19, 1936, founded the BNP in 1978 and went on to become the seventh president of the nation. On May 30, 1981, Zia was assassinated at Chattogram Circuit House by a gang of army officers.
