A writ petition has been submitted to the High Court, demanding the ban and cancellation of the Bangladesh Awami League's registration, accusing the party of being responsible for student deaths.

The writ was filed on Monday by Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan, Executive Director of the Sarda Society.

In addition to seeking a ban on the Awami League, the writ also requests the renaming of institutions that currently bear the name of Sheikh Hasina.

The petition further seeks a minimum of three years for the current interim government to implement reforms, recover Tk11 lakh crore allegedly smuggled abroad, and transfer officers who were appointed on a contractual basis during the previous Awami League government.

Arifur Rahman Murad Bhuiyan stated, "The writ requests rules and orders on these matters."

The High Court bench, led by Justice KM Asaduzzaman, is set to hear the petition.
