Dhaka, August 22 – A case has been filed against former State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Polok, under the Cyber Security Act for allegedly spreading false information and tarnishing the image of the state.

The case was filed on Thursday in the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal before Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat. The plaintiff, identified as Sohag Mallick, brought the charges against the former minister, accusing him of disseminating misinformation that allegedly damaged the state's reputation.

The court has accepted the statement of the plaintiff and is currently awaiting further orders regarding the case.

Jewel Mia, the bench assistant of the concerned tribunal, confirmed the filing of the case and stated that the court will decide on the next steps following the initial proceedings.
