Khulna, Nov15, (V7N) - A fire erupted late Monday night in multiple shops, including a jute sack warehouse, in the Burmashil area of Barabazar, Khulna. The blaze, which broke out around 11 p.m. in the jute sack godown of M/s Ahsan Ullah on Station Road, quickly spread to several nearby shops, including a godown belonging to Saiful Islam.

Seven units of the fire service were dispatched to control the fire, and local traders reported that goods from nearly 10 shops were consumed in the flames. Initial investigations suggest the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit, resulting in damages estimated to be worth billions of rupees.

Assistant Director of Fire Service Farooq Hossain Shikder stated, "After approximately an hour and a half of efforts, we managed to control the fire by 12:30 a.m. The flames are now fully extinguished. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the exact cause and to assess the extent of the damage."

Following the incident, the electricity department cut off power to the area. News of the fire attracted large crowds, with some locals aiding the fire service in extinguishing the flames. However, the gathering also posed challenges, with police intervening multiple times to disperse onlookers who were hindering the fire service’s work.
