Jhenaidah, Jan 14 (V7N) — A tragic boiler explosion at a wood factory near the Baluhar bus stand area in Kotchandpur upazila claimed the lives of two mechanics and left two others injured on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Milton (26), son of Omar Ali, and Ram Kumar (55), son of Kshitish, both residents of Singia village in Kotchandpur upazila. They were working as mechanics in the factory at the time of the incident.
According to locals, the explosion occurred while the factory's boiler was being heated. The sudden blast killed Milton and Ram Kumar on the spot, while two other workers sustained injuries. The injured were promptly rescued and transported to Jessore Medical Hospital for treatment.
Kotchandpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kabir Hossain Matubbar stated that initial investigations suggest the accident was caused by excessive heat in the boiler. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in industrial operations, prompting calls for stricter adherence to safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
