PABNA, Mar 8, (V7N) – Two people, including a 13‑month‑old child, died in separate accidents in Bhangura upazila of Pabna on Sunday morning.
Police and locals said the child, Talha, son of Sohel Rana of Mouhat village, drowned after falling into a water‑filled container in the yard around 10 am while playing. Family members rescued him during a search, but doctors at the Upazila Health Complex declared him dead upon arrival.
In another incident near Bhangura Railway Station, an unidentified man aged about 45 was killed after being hit by the Banalata Express train around 11 am. Witnesses said the man, believed to be mentally unstable, was walking along the tracks towards Baral Bridge when the accident occurred. He died instantly.
SM Mostafizur Rahman, Officer‑in‑Charge of Bhangura Police Station, said police visited the child’s home and advised guardians to remain vigilant. Regarding the train accident, he noted that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of Sirajganj Railway Police, who have been informed and will take necessary legal action.
The two tragic incidents have cast a pall of grief over the local community, with residents urging greater awareness and safety measures to prevent similar accidents.
