Dhaka, August 21 — A fire broke out in a multi-storied building in the Dhanmondi area of the capital this morning, prompting an immediate response from the fire service.

The incident was reported at around 10:30 AM when flames were seen emanating from the eighth floor of a 12-storey building located at number five in Dhanmondi. Upon receiving the information, six units of the fire service were promptly dispatched to the scene to contain the fire.

Lima Khanam, the duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room, confirmed the details and stated that the units began working to bring the fire under control as soon as they arrived. However, she could not provide any details regarding the cause of the fire or whether there were any casualties at the time.

Efforts are ongoing to fully extinguish the fire, and an investigation is expected to follow to determine the cause and assess the damage. Residents in the area have been advised to stay clear of the vicinity while emergency services continue their operations.
