Dhaka, Oct 04 (V7N) — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is set to arrive in Bangladesh today, marking his first official visit to the country with a delegation of 58 members. His arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is scheduled for 2:30 PM, where he will be accorded a formal guard of honor.

According to sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the airport formalities, the Malaysian Prime Minister will be escorted to the Hotel Intercontinental via a formal motorcade. He is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Subsequently, both leaders will engage in bilateral discussions covering a wide range of issues. Topics likely to dominate the talks include economic cooperation, political relations, trade and investment, labor migration, education, technology, infrastructure development, and defense cooperation.

A joint press conference is planned following the high-level meeting, after which Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will also meet with the President of Bangladesh, Sahabuddin, as part of his courtesy visit. He is expected to depart Dhaka later in the evening.

This visit comes almost 11 years after the last official trip of a Malaysian Prime Minister to Bangladesh, when Najib Razak visited in November 2013. Notably, this is also the first high-profile visit by a foreign head of government since the interim administration led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus took over following the collapse of the Awami League government on August 5.

This visit marks an important moment in the strengthening of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Bangladesh, as both countries look to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
