Dhaka, Nov 09 (V7N)- Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor of the interim government, announced today that the Awami League would not be permitted to hold any public meetings, rallies, or processions within Bangladesh. His statement, posted on his verified Facebook account at 12:08 p.m., comes in response to a planned protest march by the Awami League in Dhaka tomorrow, November 10.

In his post, Alam described the Awami League as a “fascist party,” declaring that it has no legitimate grounds to conduct protests within the country. “If anyone attempts to organize meetings, rallies, or processions under the orders of Sheikh Hasina, law enforcement will respond decisively,” he warned, referring to the Awami League’s leader. The interim government, he emphasized, would strictly handle any actions that could disturb public order, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to potential unrest.

Despite this warning, the Awami League called on its members and supporters to assemble at Zero Point in Gulistan at 3 p.m. tomorrow for a protest march. The party’s official Facebook page issued this call at approximately 10:30 a.m. today.

This development has set the stage for heightened tensions in the capital, as the interim government and the Awami League appear poised for a potential confrontation.
