Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N) — The interim government has announced plans to issue a red alert through Interpol in a bid to repatriate absconding suspects, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the July-August genocide case currently under review by the International Criminal Tribunal.
This development was shared by Adviser on Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Asif Nazrul, during an inspection of the ongoing renovation work of the old building of the International Criminal Tribunal on Sunday morning. The Chief Prosecutor of the Tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, accompanied him.
Dr. Asif Nazrul addressed reporters, stating, "The Awami League has made baseless allegations against the current government to tarnish the country’s reputation in the International Criminal Court. However, the government is not overly concerned with these claims."
Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam added that prosecutorial steps to consider the Awami League as a party may follow once the government confirms its stance.
This anticipated red alert through Interpol marks a significant escalation in efforts to address alleged crimes, and further developments are expected as the International Criminal Tribunal advances its proceedings.
