Dhaka, Nov 11 (V7N) — The Interim Government's Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, officially inaugurated the first-ever lounge dedicated to expatriate workers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday morning. The move is aimed at providing Bangladeshi migrant workers with a comfortable space to rest and eat while traveling.

During the inauguration, Professor Yunus emphasized the significant contributions of expatriate workers, describing them as the "craftsmen of the country" and acknowledging their vital role in the recent July-August mass uprising. He expressed the government's gratitude towards these workers and highlighted that the lounge would make their travel experience more convenient.

The new lounge, a first of its kind at the airport, will offer migrant workers a place to relax and access affordable food, with the government subsidizing the cost to ensure accessibility for all. This initiative is expected to provide much-needed support to the millions of Bangladeshi workers traveling abroad or returning home.

The event was attended by Law and Expatriate Welfare Advisor Asif Nazrul, along with senior officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), who also expressed their support for the project.

The lounge is a step towards improving the welfare and recognition of Bangladesh's migrant workers, who are integral to the country's economy.
