Dhaka, Nov 21 (V7N) – Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Principal Advisor to the interim government, expressed his vision for a Bangladesh where people hold true power, fulfilling the dreams of freedom fighters. Speaking on the occasion of Armed Forces Day at a program held in Dhaka Cantonment, Dr. Yunus reaffirmed his commitment to building a nation rooted in non-discrimination, welfare, and equality.
“We have started a new Bangladesh through the July-August student revolution. In this new country, our responsibility is to bind all people into a larger family,” Dr. Yunus said. He emphasized the importance of equality, asserting, “No one is above anyone, and no one is below anyone. This is the idea we want to establish in our national life.”
Dr. Yunus commended the armed forces for their annual recognition of brave freedom fighters during Armed Forces Day celebrations. “The initiative taken by the Armed Forces Division, Army, Navy, and Air Force to formally honor the freedom fighters is undoubtedly commendable,” he said, extending his gratitude to the defense forces for their efforts.
Reflecting on the recent upheavals and the sacrifices made by students and citizens, he added, “We have to build a beautiful and prosperous future by utilizing the opportunity to rebuild Bangladesh that has been achieved through courage and sacrifice. We have taken an oath to make our country a model for the world.”
The event concluded with Dr. Yunus exchanging greetings with senior military officers and later meeting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, signaling ongoing engagement with political leaders to steer the nation towards a united and equitable future.
