Dhaka, Jan 14 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a slight increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), raising the cost by 37 paisa per kilogram. The price of LPG now stands at Tk 121.56 per kilogram, up from Tk 121.19.

As a result, the price of a standard 12-kg LPG cylinder has increased by Tk 4, taking it from Tk 1,455 to Tk 1,459. BERC stated in a notification on Tuesday that the revised prices will take effect from this evening.

While the LPG price remained unchanged earlier in January, the commission attributed the current increase to a change in the value-added tax (VAT) rate.

Revised LPG Prices:

Consumer-level price: Tk 121.56 per kilogram (including VAT).

Liquid gas via reticulated system: Tk 117.81 per kilogram.

Auto gas for vehicles: Tk 67.27 per litre (previously Tk 66.78).

This adjustment reflects the growing operational costs in the energy sector, particularly due to tax policy changes, and will impact both household and vehicle LPG users.
