Dhaka, Feb 09, (V7N) - Steps are underway to reinstate police officers who were dismissed but successfully won their cases at the Appellate Tribunal. According to a statement issued by Police Headquarters on Saturday, the process has already seen 1,522 applications for reinstatement. These applications include 1,025 constables, 79 naiks, 180 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and Assistant Traffic Sub-Inspectors (ATSIs), 200 Sub-Inspectors/Sergeants/Traffic Sub-Inspectors (TSIs), 10 inspectors, and 28 non-police members.

To handle the process, a committee led by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) was formed last August to assess the applications of dismissed police officers seeking reinstatement. The committee has already submitted its recommendations, and the Police Headquarters is now taking steps to reinstate those officers who won their cases in the Appellate Tribunal.

However, there are legal restrictions to the reinstatement process. Officers who did not file a departmental appeal after their dismissal cannot be considered for reinstatement. Similarly, those who did not challenge their dismissal in the Administrative Tribunal are also ineligible for reinstatement. Furthermore, officers with criminal cases linked to moral turpitude, financial corruption, or other serious offenses are excluded from the process.

While the Police Headquarters is working towards ensuring justice for dismissed officers, they are reminded not to engage in any undisciplined behavior during this time. The goal is to restore justice while maintaining the discipline and integrity of the police force.
