Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N)- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced special traffic control measures to ensure a smooth and hassle-free Eid-ul-Fitr journey for city residents. With an estimated one crore people expected to leave Dhaka and around three million expected to enter, the Traffic Department has outlined strict regulations for vehicle movement.

To manage the massive outflow of people from Dhaka, a ban on trucks, covered vans, and lorries will be enforced from March 25 to March 28 and for three days after Eid. Additionally, specific highways and roads will be made one-way to facilitate outbound traffic.

According to the new measures, only outgoing traffic will be allowed from Abdullahpur (Uttara) via Kamarpara to Dhour Bridge on the Dhaka-Ashulia highway. Vehicles entering Dhaka via Ashulia-Dhour-Kamarpara-Abdullahpur must take an alternate route via Ashulia-Dhour-Panchabati and Mirpur Beribandh Road to avoid congestion.

On the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, two lanes of the Airport to Gazipur BRT project will be used exclusively for outgoing traffic. No vehicles will be allowed to enter Dhaka through the BRT’s designated Dhaka entry lane. BRT vehicles heading towards Dhaka must use regular roads alongside other vehicles.

In addition to these changes, the DMP has imposed traffic restrictions on several key roads from March 25 until the night before Eid. The restricted roads include the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway (Airport to Abdullahpur), Dhaka-Chittagong Highway (Jatrabari to Signboard), Purbachal Expressway (300 Feet Road), Dhaka-Aricha Highway (Shyamoli to Gabtoli), Dhaka-Keraniganj Road (Phulbaria to Tatibazar to Babubazar Bridge), Dhaka-Mawa Highway (Jatrabari to Buriganga Bridge), Mohammadpur Basila Crossing to Basila Bridge Road, and Abdullahpur to Dhour Bridge Road.

The DMP has urged all drivers and city residents to follow these special traffic measures to maintain discipline and prevent congestion during the busy Eid travel period.
