Washington, Sep 03 (V7N) – US President Donald Trump has nominated veteran diplomat Brent Christensen as the next American ambassador to Bangladesh. The nomination has been forwarded to the US Senate for confirmation, the State Department said in a press release on Tuesday.

Christensen, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, currently serves as the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security. He is no stranger to Dhaka, having served as Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Bangladesh between 2019 and 2021.

He holds a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, which he earned in 2022. Before joining the Foreign Service in 2002, Christensen worked as a management consultant in Houston and New York City.

His appointment as ambassador to Dhaka will be finalized upon Senate approval.
