Dhaka, Oct 12 (V7N) – The Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, has dismissed as “entirely baseless” the social media rumors claiming that the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) is preparing to issue arrest warrants against more than a hundred military officers.
He clarified that the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of the ICT has confirmed there is no plan or discussion regarding any such warrants against members of the armed forces.
“The purpose of spreading such misleading information is to create confusion among the public and sow division within the armed forces,” Shafiqul Alam stated.
He added that those behind these “malicious rumors” are attempting to destabilize the country ahead of the upcoming general election, scheduled for the first half of February next year.
Addressing another rumor, the Press Secretary also confirmed that the government has no intention of dissolving the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). However, he mentioned that certain structural reforms are being considered to enhance DGFI’s transborder and external intelligence capabilities.
The government, he stressed, remains firmly committed to transparency, stability, and maintaining public trust in all national institutions.
