Ukhiya, Oct 22 (V7N) – Delore Mezborian, a representative of the Jersey Government, conducted a full-day visit to the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya on Wednesday to observe living conditions, humanitarian assistance, and ongoing development initiatives for the displaced population.
During his visit, Mezborian toured multiple camps and met with officials from local and international NGOs overseeing various projects. He also interacted directly with Rohingya refugees to understand their challenges, needs, and priorities.
“Rohingya crisis is a complex humanitarian issue. In this situation, coordinated international efforts are essential. The Jersey Government has contributed to humanitarian aid in the past and will continue to do so in the future,” Mezborian said.
Representatives from UNHCR, IOM, WFP, World Vision, and other international organizations, along with senior local administration officials, were present during the visit. Mezborian inspected educational centers for children, healthcare facilities, and women’s skill development centers within the camps.
He expressed particular concern about the safety, health, and well-being of women and children, emphasizing the need to strengthen collaborative efforts to improve the quality of life of this vulnerable population.
After completing his inspections and meetings, Mezborian departed from Ukhiya’s Rohingya camps in the afternoon. The visit is expected to help enhance ongoing humanitarian and development programs in the region.
