A mild to moderate heatwave is currently sweeping over four divisions, with indications that it may persist and intensify over the next 24 hours starting from 9 am on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Met Office, the affected divisions include Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal, where the mild to moderate heatwave is expected to continue and potentially spread further. The release also notes that due to excessive moisture, discomfort may escalate in these areas.

In terms of precipitation, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are forecasted for one or two places in the Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, with isolated instances of hail. Elsewhere in the country, the weather is anticipated to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies.

The weather patterns are influenced by a trough of westerly low lying over West Bengal and adjoining areas, as well as a seasonal low over the South Bay.

On Monday, the maximum temperature in the country reached 39.0 degrees Celsius, jointly recorded at Ishurdi and Mongla, while the minimum temperature on Tuesday was 18.0 degrees Celsius in Dimla.

The highest rainfall recorded in the last twenty-four hours until 6 am on Tuesday was 8 millimeters in Sylhet.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable, while nighttime temperatures may experience a slight decrease across the country.

In Dhaka, the sun sets at 6:15 pm on Tuesday and rises at 5:48 am on Wednesday.
