Dhaka, Apr 25 (V7N) — Local Government Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami of deliberately undermining political stability before the upcoming national elections. Speaking after a joint meeting at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday afternoon, organized to commemorate the upcoming May Day, Fakhrul urged the public to consider whether the party’s recent actions are an attempt to facilitate the restoration of autocracy. He expressed concern that the current political climate is being purposefully agitated to disrupt the democratic transition.

The Local Government Minister strongly condemned recent statements made by the Jamaat Ameer regarding the election process, asserting that the BNP government has historically achieved power through transparent and impartial mandates. Fakhrul argued that the electorate had previously rejected Jamaat because the nation remains well-aware of their historical role in the country. He further suggested that the party should be "politically eliminated" through effective means to prevent them from causing further damage to the state's democratic framework and long-term stability.

Addressing the situation on university campuses, Mirza Fakhrul voiced his concerns over a perceived clique working to incite unrest within student politics. He urged the student body to remain vigilant and avoid being drawn into "apolitical" or manipulative political agendas designed to create chaos. Claiming that these elements are working to destabilize the country from the ground up, he called for a unified effort to ensure that the educational environment remains focused on academic and constructive democratic participation.
