Dhaka, Jun 27 (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to his father, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, by visiting their graves at the Zia Udyan Mazar Complex in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, on Saturday.
The Prime Minister arrived at the mausoleum complex at around 12:15 p.m. and stood before the graves of his parents to recite Surah Al-Fatiha and offer special prayers, seeking eternal peace for their departed souls.
Following the prayers, Tarique Rahman spent a few moments in silent reflection before leaving the memorial complex.
Several senior officials accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit, including Defence Adviser to the Prime Minister Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, National Parliament Whip Mian Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Private Secretary-2 Md. Mehedul Islam, Assistant Private Secretary-2 Abdur Rahman Sani, and other officials from the Prime Minister's Office.
The visit came shortly after the Prime Minister returned from his official visits to Malaysia and China, where he participated in high-level bilateral meetings and the World Economic Forum's Summer Davos conference.
