Chittagong, May 25 (V7N) – Chittagong Superintendent of Police Masud Alam has said that law enforcement agencies will identify and bring to justice all individuals involved in recent unrest in Jungle Salimpur, including those allegedly linked to local militant activities.
His remarks came during a briefing on Monday, a day after a reported attack on a joint forces camp in the Jungle Salimpur area of Sitakunda, Chittagong.
The SP stated that authorities are investigating multiple individuals, naming figures such as Yasin and Rokon among those under scrutiny, while emphasizing that all responsible parties—direct or indirect—will be held accountable.
He further indicated that significant financial interests are connected to the area’s illegal activities, claiming that “an empire built on crores of taka” is now being disrupted. According to him, this disruption is believed to be triggering resistance from those involved.
Masud Alam also stressed that law enforcement agencies are maintaining a strong field presence and will continue operations to stabilize the situation. He said officers are determined to restore order and prevent the emergence of any parallel power structure in the region.
Authorities have already launched counter-operations following Sunday night’s incident, with security forces continuing to monitor the area closely as investigations proceed.
