Dhaka, May 28 (V7N)- The holy Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated across Bangladesh today with religious solemnity, unity, and devotion, as millions of Muslims gathered at Eidgahs and mosques to offer prayers despite heavy rainfall in many parts of the country.

The main Eid congregation in the capital was held at the National Eidgah Maidan, while large gatherings were also organized at Sholakia in Kishoreganj and Gor-e-Shahid in Dinajpur.

Sholakia and Gor-e-Shahid congregations

The 199th Eid congregation at Sholakia Eidgah was held at 9:00 am, where worshippers participated despite adverse weather conditions. Maulana Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah led the prayers. Special train services and four-tier security arrangements were in place to ensure smooth participation.

In Dinajpur, the congregation at Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah began at 8:30 am under tight security. Maulana Matiur Rahman led the prayers, with devotees offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and the Muslim Ummah.

Major city congregations

In Chittagong, the main Eid prayer was held at Jamiatul Falah Maidan at 7:30 am, attended by thousands including city officials and children.

In Rajshahi, the main congregation took place at Shah Makhdum Central Maidan at 7:30 am, while additional prayers were held at several major Eidgahs including Saheb Bazar and surrounding areas.

In Khulna, the main Eid congregation was held at Town Jame Mosque, where families attended together and later exchanged greetings.

In Mymensingh, a large gathering was held at Anjuman Eidgah Maidan, which was filled to capacity despite the weather.

In Barisal, the congregation at Hemayet Uddin Central Maidan saw similar participation, while Rangpur’s main prayer was held early in the morning at the central Eidgah.

Nationwide observance

Eid prayers were also held across other districts including Comilla, Cox’s Bazar, and Natore. In the Teesta basin districts, worshippers offered special prayers seeking divine mercy for the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan.

Following the prayers, Muslims across the country performed animal sacrifices and exchanged greetings, marking the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha with devotion and unity.
