Khulna, Sep 08 (V7N)- Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has announced a proposed budget of Tk 601.79 crore for the current fiscal year.

KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju announced the budget. According to the proposed budget, Tk 211.90 crore has been estimated as revenue income, while overall operating expenditure has been projected at Tk 241.44 crore.

The city corporation expects to receive Tk 197.62 crore in general government grants. Another Tk 79.46 crore has been allocated as a grant under a special development project.

In his budget speech, Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju said no new taxes have been imposed on city residents under the proposed budget. He said priority has instead been given to waste management and mosquito-control activities to improve public services and the quality of life of residents.

He also said a special allocation has been made to address waterlogging, which has long been one of the major problems facing Khulna residents.

As part of the initiative, the repair of internal city roads and the modernization and expansion of the city's drainage system will be carried out on a priority basis, he said.
