May 25 (V7N) - On the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman extended financial assistance as Eid gifts to the conservancy workers of Rajshahi City Corporation. The distribution ceremony was held at the Green Plaza of Nagar Bhaban, where RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton handed over the gifts to the workers.
A total of 1,237 conservancy workers received Tk 5,000 each, amounting to Tk 61.85 lakh. The initiative was warmly welcomed by the workers, who expressed their gratitude and joy at receiving such support ahead of Eid.
In his speech, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman praised the Prime Minister’s humanitarian gesture, describing it not merely as financial aid but as a symbol of respect, love, and recognition for the hard work of the conservancy staff. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is working tirelessly to build a new Bangladesh, already implementing several election pledges through pilot projects.
Among these projects are the distribution of Family Cards and Farmer Cards, waivers of agricultural loans, re-excavation of canals, and honorarium allowances for imams and muezzins. These initiatives, he said, reflect the government’s commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.
The RCC Administrator also highlighted the Prime Minister’s directive to remove sacrificial animal waste within twelve hours during Eid. Preparations have been made to ensure a hygienic environment, with eco-friendly bags and bleaching powder distributed among residents for meat preservation and waste management.
Additionally, salt has been provided to madrasas and orphanages for preserving animal hides, while traffic police have received assistance to reduce congestion during the festive period. These measures aim to ensure a smooth and environmentally conscious celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.
The workers expressed heartfelt joy at receiving the Eid gifts. Kohinur Bewa said the money would allow her family to shop for Eid and buy clothes for children and grandchildren. Rumon Ali noted that the gift had increased the happiness of Eid for his family, while Hashem Ali, a worker of 15 years, said such gifts had never been given before and would greatly help meet household needs.
The program was presided over by RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, who oversaw the distribution and praised the Prime Minister’s initiative. The event reflected both the government’s commitment to welfare and the workers’ appreciation of being recognized for their service.
This Eid-ul-Azha gift distribution not only provided financial relief but also strengthened the bond between the government and the people, ensuring that the festive spirit reached those who work tirelessly to keep the city clean.
