Tangail, May 26 (V7N)- A total of 53,246 vehicles crossed the Jamuna Bridge in the last 24 hours amid the final phase of Eid-ul-Azha travel pressure, generating more than Tk 37.7 million in toll revenue, authorities said on Tuesday (May 26).

The information was confirmed by Syed Riaz Uddin.

According to bridge authorities, the vehicles crossed between 12 midnight on Sunday (May 24) and 12 midnight on Monday (May 25). Of them, 32,186 vehicles headed toward North Bengal, while 21,060 vehicles moved toward Dhaka.

Total toll collection during the period stood at Tk 37,758,200.

Officials said the movement reflects the final wave of homebound passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, with traffic pressure gradually stabilizing after the peak rush.

Currently, nine toll booths are operating on both sides of the bridge to manage the Eid traffic flow, including two separate booths dedicated to motorcycles.

Authorities added that efforts are underway to introduce round-the-clock toll collection to further ease congestion during peak travel periods.

The Jamuna Bridge has been collecting tolls since its opening in 1998, with operations previously managed by CNS Network. Since 2012, China Road and Bridge Corporation has been responsible for toll collection operations.
