DINAJPUR, May 27, (V7N) — Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain has said that perpetrators of child and women abuse are enemies of society and must never be given shelter or leniency.
Speaking at the Hakimpur Upazila Parishad auditorium while distributing assistance and cheques to destitute, sick, disabled people and poor students, the minister stressed that the government will not tolerate any form of abuse or violence against women and children. He declared that offenders will not be spared under any circumstances.
Dr Zahid Hossain highlighted that strict measures have already been taken against such crimes. Law enforcement agencies, he said, will show no leniency towards drug offenders, abusers, or eve-teasers.
He also noted that recent cyclones have damaged large amounts of crops, and assured that the government will provide assistance to affected farmers and families within its capacity.
During the programme, the minister distributed 10 kilograms of rice each among 400 families and handed over cheques to students from 10 poor families.
Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanjila Khatun presided over the event, which was attended by local officials and political leaders.
Hakimpur Upazila Social Service Officer Md Sohel Rana, Upazila BNP President Md Ferdousur Rahman, and General Secretary Md Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi were among those present.
The minister’s remarks reinforced the government’s stance on protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring justice, while his distribution of aid reflected the administration’s commitment to social welfare.
This event combined strong policy declarations with humanitarian outreach, underscoring the government’s dual focus on justice and compassion for the people.
