Following Prime Minister Hasina's victory in the polls, congrats flowed in. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent her a congrats message, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave her a call to wish her well.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, sent his best wishes to Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister, on her fifth term in office.

"Friendship has always been the foundation of relations between Russia and Bangladesh. In a letter to Hasina, he expressed the hope that "your activities as the Head of Government will further contribute to strengthening the constructive bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the people of our countries."

The results showed that Hasina's Awami League won 222 seats, the Jatiya Party 11 and independent candidates winning 62 seats. Syed Mohammad Ibrahim of the Bangladesh Kalyan Party prevailed from Cox's Bazar, while the allies of the Awami League, the Workers Party and Jasad, each took home one.
