Hasan Mahmud, a former minister of information and broadcasting, has been named to the new Sheikh Hasina-led cabinet as the foreign minister.
On Thursday evening, January 11, the Cabinet Division published a notification in the gazette about this matter.
He has previously worked for the government in a variety of roles. From 2014 until 2019, Hasan presided over the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.
Prior to that, he was the state minister for foreign affairs. From August 2009 until January 2014, he also held the position of Environment and Forest Minister in the cabinet.
"It's clear that this cabinet is excellent. The intelligent prime minister has put together a sensible cabinet. He declared, "It's a really good cabinet," just before taking the oath of office that evening.
