Hasina made her first trip outside of the capital after winning the national election on January 7 with an absolute majority early in the day.

She won by a landslide, earning her the fifth term in office overall and the fourth consecutive.

Following the meeting, PMO Secretary Muhammad Salahuddin gave a briefing to the media.

This was a casual meeting of the cabinet, he stated.

He said that the prime ministers had instructed the ministries to take action during Ramadan, particularly against large hoarders, in order to prevent them from inciting a false commodity crisis.

On Saturday, Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister, instructed the recently nominated ministers to take the required actions to reduce the cost of necessities during the next holy month of Ramadan.

"Take the necessary actions to ensure that the prices of the necessities are not increased during this month as Holy Ramadan approaches," she stated.

The prime minister remarked this while holding an informal discussion with the ministers who came here to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The gathering took place in her home in the Tungipara neighborhood.

In this regard, she also requested that the ministries frequently organize anti-hoarding campaigns.

She was cited as saying, "Put the prices of essentials under control so that the common people could live in comfort."

The PMO secretary reported that the prime minister instructed her new cabinet colleagues to become well-versed in their respective ministries first.

According to Salauddin, when starting any project, Prime Minister Hasina urged the ministers to give careful thought to how it would benefit the nation and its citizens.
