Dhaka, Oct 06 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said students will have opportunities to learn dance, singing, musical instruments and keerthi from the school level starting in 2028.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (October 6) morning while addressing a programme marking Children’s Rights Day and the Golden Jubilee of Shishu Academy.

The Prime Minister said education should not be limited to academic studies, stressing the need to raise children as humane and compassionate individuals.

“Even if our generation cannot become completely humane, the next generation must be humane,” he said.

Tarique Rahman urged parents to teach children kindness not only toward other people but also toward nature, animals and birds. He said children should be encouraged to develop understanding, compassion and a sense of responsibility toward their surroundings.

He also emphasized the importance of sports and extracurricular activities, saying many children possess different talents that should be identified and nurtured.

“If someone wants to sing, let them sing. If someone can play the flute, let them play the flute,” he said, encouraging children to pursue activities they enjoy.

The Prime Minister also referred to his own experience of learning the guitar, saying he started playing but could not complete the process. He encouraged children to fulfill their aspirations and develop whichever talents they possess.

He said proper development of children would strengthen the foundation of the country and help Bangladesh compete more effectively in the global arena.

The Prime Minister further said around 2.2 million boys and girls across the country had participated in football activities for the first time. He expressed hope that talented players would emerge from the initiative and said children should receive encouragement in sports alongside cultural activities.

Calling for greater awareness of nature and biodiversity, Tarique Rahman urged children to care for trees in their homes, schools and surrounding areas and to treat animals with kindness.

He said responsible behavior toward nature and animals would play an important role in building a more humane Bangladesh.
