A training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed in the Karnaphuli River in Patenga, Chattogram, before landing, injuring two pilots.
The incident occurred at around 10 am on Thursday (May 9). Additional Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Shakila Sultan confirmed the incident.
According to her, during the landing at the Zahurul Haque Gate of Shah Amanat International Airport, mechanical failure was observed in the lower part of the aircraft's wheel.
At that time, fire broke out under the aircraft's wheel before the emergency landing. The injured pilots, Wing Commander Sohan and Squadron Leader Asim, have been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital. As Asim's condition is critical, he has been kept in the ICU.
Personnel from the Air Force, Police, and various government agencies are present at the scene working to recover the aircraft
